Brian Kliewer's comment on Building a Better Blog

I have to comment on this before someone else does...

I am aware of Google's recent announcement it will be penalizing sites that over optimize.  Too much SEO isn't  a good thing.  Why?  Have you noticed sites coming up near the top in your searches that are really irrelevant, or not very relevant at all?   I have.  So I understand where Google is coming from.

But that's not really the focus of this post.  I probably shouldn't have mentioned the h1, h2, h3 stuff.  Since the h1 and h2 tags are built in anyway, all I'm saying is that I want my subtitles in h3 since they are coming off an h2 permalink.  And I want subtitles to help people see what the content is about.  But enough of that.

What I'm really talking about is content and load speed.  Content and speed are my focus for the blog.  And I'm actually dropping a hint here...

I started off by mentioning speed and ended the post with my plans to start a blogroll.  I'll be getting into this more soon but I want a different kind of blogroll and blogs that have great content and are fast loading are going to get special  attention.

The best "optimization" is content.  Period.  But speed and usability factor into that equation.  This is the point I was trying to make.
